About the Project Process

It All Starts With An Idea

  1. It all starts with an Idea. Maybe you already started to build a clear vision for that dream kitchen. You may be the homeowner who is need of more square feet for a growing family yet uncertain it will functionally and cosmetically tie into your existing home. Let Traci Dokken Designs be your partner in turning your dream into reality. Before we even come to your home, it’s important to discuss your plans, schedule and budget. During that discussion with our sales staff, it will be determined by both parties if proceeding with a site visit would be beneficial. We want to establish that we are a good fit for our clients as well as clients determining if Traci Dokken Designs is a contractor that fits their requirements as well. This process is all about establishing a relationship, the most critical part of the process.
  2. Typically, a site visit to your home is the next step. Several matters will be discussed at this meeting and there is no charge for this initial visit. At this meeting, the project will be discussed in detail. Whether you already have a designer or architect or are looking to us to design the project from the start, we still proceed as a team. After the initial elements have been compiled, a preliminary project price range will be developed. If this preliminary scope and price is in line with your budget and you would like to take the next step, a Design Agreement will be presented.
  3. A Design Agreement enables us to perform further scope development including, but not limited to, CAD drawings, sub-contractor site visits, and showroom visits to pertinent vendors. Through this process, selection decisions are made, plans are refined, and precise pricing is obtained, the cost of a Design Agreement varies relative to complexity of a project.
  4. Traci Dokken Designs spends an extensive amount of time compiling a proposal for you. This allows the project to proceed on time and on budget during the production stage. (Unless there is a change order requested by homeowner or an unforeseen existing pre-existing condition exposed once demolition starts) This alleviates the unknowns of “allowance” numbers in the proposal or the possibility of backordered items that will change the schedule and cost of your job.
  5. The goal of the design & estimating process is a signed proposal so the job can get started. Traci Dokken Designs will obtain all building permits and have a walk thru with our homeowners and all key personnel to review the proposal again, as communication is key. You will be assigned a lead carpenter who will be your direct contact throughout the process and answer any questions you may have during the remodel. Our customers comfort is very important to us and we strive to be as unobtrusive and respectful of your home as possible.
  6. Upon completion of your project, you will be presented with a warranty certificate and a client survey. We want to make sure every client is on our “satisfied client list” after completion and would highly recommend Traci Dokken Designs to family, friends and neighbors.
